Typically, furniture pieces are considered as an investments which aren’t renewed for several years. Thus, the material from which the furniture is built must be sturdy enough to  resist to decay, daily wear and tear and other such damage. Wooden furniture meets all the requirements, but mind that the timber must be high-quality.

There are certain factors to consider when choosing timber:

- the maturity of the wood;

- the absence of signs of decay or traces of insect inhabitants;

- unitary thickness throughout it length;

- timber from older trees are typically not suitable for woodworking.

 Coniferous trees tend to be more decay resistant in comparison with foliage trees which rot more easily.

Tree cutting should be carried out on trunks and trees which are suitable for the woodworking process. This is known as selective cutting and a felling permit must be obtained before its implementation.

Clear-cutting, on the other hand, occurs when all trees in the area are uniformly cut down. It is difficult for new trees to grow after clear-cutting has been implemented.

The growth of new forests.

 After selective cutting, the new forest has the potential of self-regeneration. The surrounding trees provide seeds, and the free space created after cutting provides land and additional sunlight for the development of new trees.

Following clear-cutting, the territory needs to be replanted again. Seeds are taken from the trees which are planned to be cut off. This aids new trees to grow faster in habitual conditions.
